The Stormy Seas hats are sold primarily in the Pacific NW, but your hat seems better IF it had a chin strap (which the Stormy Seas does). The SS cap is NOT a water cap but serves as one for that one time dunking. Its a very warm hat otherwise and is very pliable, able to be crushed and stuck in a vest pocket.
: Im not familiar with that particular hat. My fleece hat is from Old Navy, and
: it actually works pretty well. On the first roll the hair doesnt get wet.
: But the ears do, and there is no chin strap. But the hat I'm using is a
: fleece/neoprene combination with a chin strap. It doesnt go over the neck,
: nor does it keep water out of the ears, but it is warmer in wind and stays
: on better. I intend to try the gear I have in cold water before investing
: in more gear which I am unsure of. Besides the SO isnt thrilled with my
: kayaking budget, even when its for safety. I really need to justify it,
: both for her and for me.
