Just to let you know. I started out buying a cheap $40 Sawyer. I then built my own Greenland style paddle. That got me hooked. I gave away the Sawyer to my brother when I made him a kayak. I have also built a couple of Aleut blades and another Greenland. The cost less than $10 each to make. I find I can paddle for longer without getting as tired when I use a Greenland or Aleut stick.
