Randy, you hit it on the head. Immersion of the head that is. Any time my head gets dunked in <50 degree water it's like an extra 5 minutes in the water. A few seconds equals 5 minutes, that's not a good trade. And that's with full head protection! I like the divers thin lycra/fleece full hood liner with a fuzzy rubber hood on top of that. Both of them can get pulled back off my head and ears when hot but pulled back up with forehead,jaws,lips and neck fully covered, with still room for a neoprene beanie or wool cap on top. All those fancy dry suits and neoprene don't help much if the person gets vertigo trying to roll in very cold water.
