I'm thinking the same thing. They could be hooked to an electric bilge pump battery. (LED's draw very little power). Heck, they could even be built into the boat!

The only thing that concerns me is how low in the water we are. If you put red and green side lights on the bow of your boat, they're all but invisible in 2' chop to a small power boater. They could be visible from the higher bridge of a larger vessel.

Ever notice the LED brake lights on the new FedEx trucks, or LED traffic lights?? Very, very bright!
