Red flasher not in rules = OK to use?

: proper lookout.Sounds to me that a red flasher is exactly allowed here. Not in rules, doesn't impair other light's distinctive character, doesn't interfere w/ keeping a proper lookout.
What more could you want? If a person wishes to investigate and call the cg it's his own responsibility cause it's not covered?
-follow the rules, it's not in them, so don't call the guard.
-don't follow the rules, call the guard, up to you.
I paddle night a fair amount and carry a flashlight, but am now tempted to get a red flasher for those real odd occasions.
