: Is it legal and acceptable to use a strobe light on a kayak for visibility at
: night, or are they assumed to be a distress signal? And why doesn't anyone
: make a 360° white light that can be attached to a hat or helmet?I am curious to hear what the States regs are. We in BC used them for moonlight
tours with clients clipping them on their shoulder . The Canadian coast guard or
I guess you could say the navy with their 3 ships total, ahem , had no prob with
this but they did ask we were aware of when commercial tugs with log boms being
towed were scheduled. There are some nifty tools out there now with one really small lights that are convertable and mountable most anywhere. Light sticks do an ok job also in case the batteries get forgotten. I have some buddies who promote the Scotty light post that they attach ahead of the rear hatch and this thing really lights us up.Never rolled with one but I don't think it would prsent that much drag problem.
