At the risk of sounding selfish, for me it's a matter of efficiency. Alone, I dont have to fuss with scheduling I just go when I get the chance. I dont have to wait around, or fuss with anybody who wants to go there when I'd go over here. I dont have to look at thier schedule, and realize there is some conflict. And as to the safety issue, I've chosen my locations carefully for conditions I am fine handling. But as I posted earlier, this year I intend to do more group trips, partly in hopes of getting into more challenging conditions, and partly to access my own skills level. Kind of the opposite spectrum from you...
: After spending the summer introducing peoplel to the wonderful art of sea
: kayaking, I find myself relishing time alone in my boat. I don't know what
: it is, but I just love paddling alone. So far I've only done day-long
: trips solo, but I'm planning on some longer ones for the spring.: Does anyone else out there suffer from the same affliction I do? I would love
: to hear other's philosophies, and reasons for why they go it alone. Oh,
: and you staunch, always-paddle-in-groups, realist-safety advocates who
: would love to smack some sense into me, I'd like to hear from you too.
: Give me some reasons not to go explore Superior on my own this summer.: Hope to hear from you guys soon.
: Dwight.
