Pump outlet location

Not well. The last thing you want to do is to add any back pressure to the pump system. Depending on the pump you use, it could have a dramatic effect on the pumping rate. Your best bet is to exhaust the water just above the waterline of the boat when the cockpit is full of water, which will probably be right along the gunwale line.
