I have a question for the list. In the December issue of Sea Kayaker there is an article titled "Swearing at the Wind." It is a great article about a trip in Western Australia. But in it I read of a situation where the group was faced with large waves and was having trouble launching from a beach, also punching through the surf had failed several times. They attempted to swim out the boats, using flippers and two people, one on each side of the kayak. It did not work this time, but apparently this technique must work sometimes. Has anyone ever used it? It seems to me if the surf is that bad I just could not see trying to swim out a kayak.
