: I'm going to work on foot and electric pumps!
Don't waste too much time on the foot pumps, Shawn. In my experience they're good for keeping the boat relatively dry but far slower than a hand-held for emptying a boat. For me, it's the "Friends don't let friends swim" rule. No wet exit, no significant water in the boat. That's right, we're right back to the value of a reliable roll. ;-) My Explorer has a foot pump now, but I might not bother with it in the future. It consumes valuable foot-room and I have precious little to spare. A deck pump might work a bit better but they too are much slower than a hand-held.
Eskimo rescues are worth the effort! Stay in your boat!
