a little off topic, but unless the unit is rated as "submersible", do not trust it out of a dry bag of some sort- esp. in salt water.

A friend learned the hard way- he had a "waterproof" unit die on him after getting tumbled in the surf in the middle of a extended trip... A real bummer.

I now keep my waterproof unit in a dry bag all the time, and by the way mine (a Raytheon 100) has both knobs and buttons and I'm able to turn the knobs while its inside the bag.
