Success depends on the type of seat you have installed. If you have a lot of under-thigh support, it's hard to pump down below 2-3-4" of water remaining in the cockpit.
Since I usually put my sprayskirt under my PFD, it also makes things a little more difficult.
I've shoved the pump tube down next to my thigh while tilting the boat to that edge to get most of the water out. It's a little destabilizing, though, as you don't have your hands free to scull with the paddle.
I'm going to work on foot and electric pumps!
