: Tom--I had a flashback while out paddling yesterday. The boat you are in is
: the one your brother bought, isn't it. It's the one I paddled out on
: Warren Island?: For the rest of the world it appears to be one of the older tortured ply CLC
: designs, similar to the Yare, but not quite dimensionally the same.: Tom--I think I'd do some quick and dirty modifications to the boat. 1) cut
: down the seatback to be level with the coaming. 2) get a can of contact
: cement and some cheap foam and fit a bulkhead and knee and thigh pads. 3)
: beg, borrow or steal the meanest nylon sprayskirt you can find that will
: fit. (It does have a lip on the coaming, doesn't it?): Will the pool be available in January?
: Mike
That's the one Mike! Next week is rumored to be the last day for this year, but, as far as I know they will be doing it again next semester.
Yesterday's session seemed ok, but of limmited use. It's just too easy to get the boat upright. It may have helped with some aspects like paddle position and being comfortable with staying under water.
I know I could make some headway with the boat on the cheap, but I hate to have to undo all the temporary band aids later. Also, it's been a little cold out to get glue to work, not to mention me!
The boat does have a coaming, but there's a lot of epoxy drips to sand off before it wiil hold a skirt.
I'm going to try Mick's idea and find/rent "a nice easy to roll old-school plastic whitewater kayak" or similar.
