A lesson from one who has learned and knows.How are you ?
I also had the complacent experience in the Gulf Islands where the wind blew up crossing to Vancouver island from a Symposium at night using an un familiar Numbus kayak and a new Nimbus feather paddle ( both were fun). The wind blew stronger as time went by and at the 25 minute mark I noticed I was ferrying to do the crossing and not making head way.
Waves up a few feet now with wisping whitecaps and I am deciding that I would rather have my regular paddle. Looking arond at the weather coming blacker and blacker I thought about the overconfidence and the Lack of pump and float. In the end with a little concentration made it back and needless to say . I never leave home with out the good stuff so often overlooked.Its very very cool to be prepared and damm freezing if your not!
