: I am having a rough time with my roll. I'm in a pool clinic now and have had
: some very limited sucsess. At the last two sessions I was able to roll on
: my first attempt but then could not repeat it. I geuss i'm frustated
: because I assumed that once i rolled it would come a little easier. I'm
: heading to the pool Wensday and again on Sunday. I think my problem is
: getting my head up to fast. Has anyone else had this much trouble
: repeating a sucsessful roll? This is a very common occurance, so don't be discouraged. Two techniques you can try are:
1) Follow the paddle blade with your head and eyes as you sweep out and down. You should finish the roll staring at the surface where your paddle enters the water.
2) Rest your cheek against your shoulder and keep it there until the boat is upright. The finishing position is pretty much the same as in #1.
Either of these techniques will insure that your head comes out of the water late in the roll, as it should, and should reduce the number of missed rolls you suffer.
