Start out with the mask on but your eyes closed. Peek a few times if you need to. Try to memorize register points such as where your forearm touches the boat so you can tell by feel when you are set up correctly.
: I went to a pool today and worked quite a bit on the rolling, and am doing
: much better now. I did notice that without the mask I cant seem to get it.
: I'm assuming that it's just that I dont have enough "feel" for
: the setup, and should practice with the eyes closed. I did manage one or
: two blind, but only when my hands did not leave the paddling position. I
: intend to make a point of going a couple times a month to improve, so that
: by next season I'll be in good shape. But I'm concerned a little that if I
: went down in a combat situation, the lack of a mask would be a problem. Is
: this just a matter of practice, or are there some specific things I could
: work on to improve "feel"?
