Mike, I've been at the LaConner Brewery again (no not a habit, but their beer is strong) so I may not be very sensitive. As I see it you have two choices - as follows: 1. Do as most sea kayakers do and convince yourself that you can't roll, or you don't need to etc.. This is fine, and common, but it is what it is... Argue for your limitations and they are yours.. OR
2. You can disregard this and choose to learn this simple skill that will open up a whole new world of paddling and pleasure to you.

Sure you can enjoy paddlind without rolling, but a kayak is a very special craft capable of soo much. So my bias is that anyone able to learn should at least give it a good shot. Having said that I'm not going to put folks down who can't roll, but I just think too many are convinced it's for the elite few. It's not!

Ian, at this point you may be interfering with natural selection.
