: I haven't swamped her boat but that may be an excellent idea. I offered her
: my Deep Trouble but she said she didn't want to be depressed by it!Does she eschew listening to the news or weather, too? Does she refuse to read owner's manuals or product labels because they contain potentially depressing warnings? What a ridiculous attitude!. What's really depressing is becoming a statistic when all of the information you needed to avoid it was right in front of you.
: I have
: quit kayaking with them because it scares the hell out of me to see
: someone with so little regard for their own safety. It's a shame that it's come to that, but I don't blame you.
: Maybe, I will ask to try her boat out and capsize just to prove my point. If
: she takes notice I will try to convince her of the other things. If she
: doesn't, I will advise her sons to make funeral arrangements! (I wonder if
: she will get suspicious if I don't just roll up!)That sounds like a reasonable approach, though it probably won't have the same impact as having it happen to her directly. Still, it's better than nothing. Maybe the thing to do is to swamp the boat, swim to shore, then tell her to swim out and retrieve it, since it's her fault that it can't be paddled. It's a rotten trick, but it may save her life someday.
