: My feelings on the subject are that when kayaking we need a roll that works
: 100% of the time. Anything less is not adaquate. By dividing your practice
: time between many different rolls are you in fact sacrificing the 100% ?Ian,
This is one of those debates where everybody's right --- for their own purposes. (Which is really the only reason that matters in the final analysis) The fact that you roll at all puts you ahead of 2/3 of the paddlers out there nowadays.
My personal approach is that the more rolls and skills I know, the better all my rolls will be, regardless of which one I end up doing. My attitude is that I can roll up from any position a capsize puts me in, with minimal time spent setting up. And yet in whitewater, I take your approach, and use a c-to-c almost exclusively. Less time to think in that type of paddling.
Anyway, if your roll works, and works well, you're doing it right.
Cheers!
Wayne
