: The only WRONG thing that I see/hear are perfectly able
: people who have been convinced that a roll is not necessary in sea
: kayaking. To me this is a shame. Take care MHHow about a woman who kayaks but refuses to attempt any type of self resue?! No word of a lie, I know this person. She is scared of water although she is a great swimmer and a lifeguard, she loves kayaking but refuses to believe that there is any danger in it.
She took a rolling lesson when she first started, could not roll and has done nothing to address this problem since. She has a kayak with no front bulkhead, and does not believe me when I tell her that she needs a float bag in the front.
I guess it is not a big deal, let's face it if she dumps and has to wet exit her only option is to swim for her life because her kayak will be nose down. She is also endangering her paddling partner, who happens to be my brother, but hey, so what?
But don't worry, she religiously dons her lifejacket (OOOPPPS!! PFD!) everytime she gets in the kayak!!
Her excuse! "I'm too old for that!"
My response, "Maybe, but you're too young to die!"
