: Tomorrow I go to some guru laser guy in BC
: to see if he can do my eyes! Have you got a surf boat yet?CAUTION!!! Make sure you tell the guy your eyes may be subject to the force of water pounding against them. The US Air Force is considering for the first time letting their folks get corrective eye surgery, but here is the rub:
(I don't remember the terms, so I'll just explain it the way the AF Chief of Staff explained it to me:)
There are two types of corrective surgery. The first involves peeling back a layer of your lens, grinding down what is underneath and then putting the flap back over the top. I think this is called lasik? and is more common.
The second type involves grinding down the lens from the top - e.g. no flap of eyeball to put back on top. The Air Force is going to ok only this second method. The reason is it is their opinion that the flap of eyeball never totally heals, and can peel back under extreame stress (like ejecting out of an airplane). Not sure how getting pounded in the surf might affect it.
Anyhow - ask your Dr. to be sure.
