Hi Lucas,
This is probably a question better asked on Nick's building page. I have been building Greenland paddles instead of Euro paddles. They just seem like they belong with a cedar strip boat. I have considered making a Euro paddle and had planned to just skip that part of Nick's plan in favor of a ferrule. It's easier to deal with and I think I would prefer a two piece paddle.
