: Why would there be any difference between Greenland and Euro paddles in this
: regard? The basic principles and motions of rolling, bracing and sculling
: are the same regardless of the paddle type.: If you have entanglement concerns, use a wrist leash rather than one that
: attaches to the boat. You'll be able to shift the paddle around as much as
: you want, but it will still be attached to you. Wrist leashes can be
: quickly and easily made from sail ties available at most boating stores.I can see where it is possible --- say in one of the many reverse sweep rolls in the Greenland style, or in one-handed or behind the head rolls. In that regard, it is different from "euro" style paddling. Anytime you're playing with rope, entanglement becomes possible. My personal solution is to use no leash at all, and carry a spare paddle.
I guess my response to the first post should have been that I personally don't like tethers of any kind.
