: What kind of set up do you use for fishing? Do you hold a pole, or eo you
: have it mounted on your boat in some sort of trolling rig? Where do you
: put the fish that you catch?I use several different poles depending on conditions but my favorites are a Shakespeare Ugly Stick, medium with a Penn 850 spinning reel, 40 lb test and believe it or not I use a graphite telescoping rod I got from Cabela's catalog, with a Penn 550 for the smaller stuff. This is one amazing rod. I both troll with lures and use bunker chunks with the Ugly Stick using a rig I made from 1 1/2 inch PVC pipe cut just an inch above the rear coaming and pipe clamped around the bar that runs the length of the boat on the inside, just behing the seat. I have a Chinook, great for fishing because it's big and stable. The hardest part in catching a larger blue is getting it across the deck, and knocking it out with a 3/4 inch iron pipe. It gets nerve wracking sometimes, but that's half the fun. I try to keep it to harbor blues under 10 lbs, which is a lot easier to deal with. I use my old diver's catch bag, about 2 ft long with opening jaws and clip it to the deck after I "dispatch" the fish. The season for blues is just about over, so now it's just good old winter paddling until next year. Tight lines.
