: What ever you do use a mooching rod for fishing so you can allow the tip to go around the kayak easily if the fish is playful. Also , make sure the fish is dead if you put him in your cockpit. If it is over 20 lbs do not put it in your cockpit (painful), better to bungee him right away on the dech sideways befor he stiffens up .Can't keep them in the water otherwise the dogfish or seals will come and snap them up, at least on the west coast they do. I like the long rods as they give you time to react slowly.
