surely the motor in your boat (that's YOU) is the most important factor in how fast you go. and unless you're in an olympic race which measures gold medals by a matter of seconds or fractions thereof, telling me that scratches will slow me down by 5 percent is rediculous ... at least to me. what the heck is the hurry in the first place? we're talking kayaking here, eh? i'm more interested in my strokes, my rescue skills, my hand roll (not sushi), surfing, understanding tides and currents, navigation and what i might happen upon while at sea. a dolphin, a shark, a seal or three or birds of one sort or another. i'll leave you guys to worry about scratches --- i'm goin' paddlin'. :-)
