If anything it's speeding you up! Don't worry. The worst thing folks do when trying to go faster is wax their hulls. With skiing tuners rill ski bases for wet snow (actually put file grooves in the base to break suction.) Imagine two pieces of glass with water between. Yes, suction, so a few scratches I'm sure are not affecting your speed. I'm not a hydrodynamics expert, so perhaps some severe abnormality may cause a problem, but I doubt it. This phenominon has caused competitive sailors to rough up their hulls or even install ribblets/bubbles etc., to combat the suction effect. I'm anxious to hear what the true racers say, if they even visit this site.
