I did find the following comment you made surprising:

: difficult water, a sit-on-top is not for you.Why would a SOT kayak be inherently slower than a "real" sea kayak. The only thing I can think of would be the drag of the exposed legs and seat area when hit with deck wash.
SOT surf skis, for instance, seem to be made for open ocean racing.
Because many SOT designs are short, wide with enormus wetted surface, it seems the SOT concept is often saddled with this preconception. I can't see any reason why an SOT design could not be as fast as a cockpit type if designed properly.
But again, I am not an SOT user and I would be very interested in you rebutal!
