In Response To: Winged paddles (David Yates)

: I'd love to hear from anyone who has had experience w/ winged paddles for sea
: kayaking.

: I'm currently using a Lendal carbon paddle w/ cranks, which I like alot, but
: the winged concept is interesting. Are they good for touring or only
: racing? Any negative impact on bracing, rolling, etc? Are they really
: faster? Which models are best?

: Interested in any and all input.

First time you paddel a wing it is a "what the... " felling The wing has a rock solid grip in the water and if you tries to move it sideways you tipp over (feels like that)

Wing paddles has become popular in Skandinavia among people how canoes long distanse and want to go fast. Wings are a bit shorter around 2meter

And suits best for long skinny boats with rudder
