Its quite interesting to follow Don's progress into rolling;
: I find that my boat/paddle combination is much harder to roll than the
: whitewater one in class.This always happens: sometimes there's quite a gap if one's own happens to be a difficult one.
: I think it has to do with the paddle. The whitewater / euro paddle has a lot
: more blade area and a much firmer plant than the skinnier sticks I've been
: using.One could use both kinds: go back to the power blade if the boat gives trouble, but always push on as it gets easier.
: I wonder how much is the boat? Oddly enough I find the CLC Cpae Charles
: easier. This is not supposed to be. Could it be the bigger deck beg on the
: Spring Run? I fixed the knee pads and they are a lot better. I dont think
: the fit is any looser than the CLC. Maybe it's just that I'm not quite
: used to the new boat yet.The boat matters greatly: beam, volume, rocker, shape (are the ends up-swept, etc)... Back-rest, knee-pads, hip-pads, ...
Its a multi-variable equation! Enjoy!
