I notice, sitting in the Spring Run, that I cant lean back nearly like I did in the whitewater boat. Is this a problem on the sweep rolls? I just finished this boat, guys! I'd like to like it for at least a year before I decide I need another!
Actually, I like it a lot already but I do wonder about leaning back like that. A higher seat is not the way to go!
: I think partly because I had no idea what the different roll types are, and I
: would fail at one and try something different, and never really understand
: either. Now, I am hitting what he called a "classic sweep roll"
: quite reliably. Leaning back instead of forward, and sweeping with
: extended paddle. Not much hip snap. I even did the petrussen deal, but
: nobody noticed. The skirt came off and the whitewater boat filled with
: water and sank.: I noticed right off that the whitewater blades they use have a LOT more beef
: to lean on then the green/euro combination that I have been using. I'm
: unsure what to think about that, it'll be interesting to try my paddle
: again and compare the difference.: And oddly, I still cannot determine which side is stronger. I hit the C-to-C
: right off the bat, on both sides, with thier paddle. When I started to get
: tired, he showed me some pointers and I started hitting sweep rolls. If I
: miss on one side, I'll hit the other. If I miss the C to C I'll hit the
: sweep. I guess I can live with that.... Cant wait to get back to the lake
: on Sunday!: Thanks Greg and Murray, and Shawn and Woody, and everybody else, for the
: encouragement and tips. They all help a LOT!!
