: I really hurt my back yesterday lifting my 25# race boat. It is a 21 ft west
: side race boat that came with no bulkheads so I put one in the rear with a
: 2 inch drain plug. But nothing but dry bags in front. And by the way his
: velcro thigh straps remind me off the seat belts in some wwhitewater
: boats. They are terrible so I added plastic thigh braces so my knees can
: grab unto some thing. I should have added a front bulkhead because after
: paddling there was some water in the boat and as I picked it up- the water
: slid forward and hit the front of the boat hard enough for me to really
: strain to lift the boat, like lifting shovel by the end and trying to hold
: it straight out. He builds great boats the lack of bulkheads is a safety
: issue. It will have a front bulkhead to make it easier to carry. Otherwise
: water shoots from one to the other like a tanker with no baffles.Dave
The number one injury amoung sea kayakers is back injury. Another stat. Only hurt my back once this summer, it was a good year.
Good luck healin' up. Drag isn't it?Regards
David
