Lee:
The "industrial" look you are referring to is largely due to our blow molding process. The plastic does not get completely liquid in this proces, but remains at a taffy-like state because of it's density. As a result the plastic does not pick up the high-gloss from the mold surfaces, as happens in roto molding. The good news is that this matte surface hides minor nicks and scartches well, and that the end product has a stiffness close to a composite boat with unmatched durability. We have enough faith in the material to offer an unmatched 5 year full replacement hull warranty (not pro-rated like most others). As far as design features of the Calabria go:
The Calabria has very little rocker, making it one of the fastest and best tracking boats for it's length (14'5").
Extremely hard chines help tracking, while generous flare at the sides combined with 25" overall width give temendous secondary stability.
Calabria comes with recessed deck hardware, attached with stainless bolts (no non-field-serviceable pop rivets here).
An adjustable bow-tether is included on the boat, great for tying the bow to the bumper of your vehicle when car topping.
Bow float bag is included, rear features a bulkhead and flush hard hatch cover over neoprene.
Boat is rudder ready, optional rudder kit can be installed in minutes with use of included allen key, vice grips and a philips screw driver.
The overall "official" weight of 54lbs, which is actually a bit high, also makes it one of, if not the, lightest plastic boat in it's class. You should demo one and let me know what you think.
Thanks for your interest, and feel free to e-mail me if you have further questions.

Prijon / Wildwasser CanadaPS - I just sold two Calabrias to my dentist, who is somehere in the 300lbs range, and he loves the fit. He previously tried boats from virtually all manufacturers.
: Hi Christian, How else is the Calabria different? I had a fellow in my basic
: class that got a Kodiak for the same reasons you state, there's something
: satisfyingly industrial about prijon boats. Maybe it's that they don't
: turn to lasagna after a few years of use. cheers
