Thats for sure. I'll keep at it, and also see if I can get into a class. Thanks to all for the encouragement and tips!
: Don,
: Just a thought: Use of a paddle float is a mixed blessing for the learner. On
: the one hand it allows integration of the sequence of steps, "puts it
: all together", and gives the learner a flush of success and
: encouragement. On the down side it can get the user into a habit of
: treating the loom as if it were a chin-up bar. As the float is deflated,
: the learner, who is used to the luxury of pulling down on the loom (which
: is supported by the float) throughout the sweep, will increasingly dive
: the paddle. The diving paddle guarantees success in the "sea to
: sea" roll (start in the sea -end in the sea). I know. I have been an
: expert in this technique. Seidman's book (Is it called Fundamentals of Sea
: Kayaking?)has an excellent discussion of the causes of and remedies for
: the diving paddle. You will get this mastered.: Carl
