Ceck out Saris roof racks http://www.sarisproducts.com They're less expensive than Thule or Yakima, and they're much easier to install, they're self centering! The cross bars are oval with a slot down the middle for the accessories. I don't use them for my kayaks (I have a truck with a tracrac) but I have some freinds who use them for their bikes and they love them.
