Bruce, I replied further dowm this board regarding racks. After hundreds of boats, bad NW and BC roads etc, my absolute preferrence is simple well padded cross bars. Pipe insulation attached with cable ties along with good nylon straps. You'll never have a problem. All these expensive gimmicks are just that. Most if not all don't even have stainless hardware. Had to cut the Yakima off the old sube some dozen years or so ago. Put the money on a good paddle and dry top. I've never busted a boat. Not how manufacturers transport their new kayaks to dealers, shows etc. I doubt you'll see any cradles etc.
