: Time to get a rack for my '98 Accord. I would like feedback on the Thule and
: Yakima racks regarding strength, minimizing damage to the car, and wind
: noise. I have a Pygmy Coho and was thinking about using the foam crossbar
: pads on these racks as my travel time to the water is pretty short - one
: to two miles. The kayak saddles or rollers seem like expensive overkill.
: Anyone had a positive or negative experience? Thank you.Hi Bruce
I put a yakima on my Dodge Caravan because I did not like the attachment that Thule uses to connect to the factory rack. I find at highway speed to be very noisy. Also, I find that no matter how hard you tighten the bar adapters for the saddes that the saddle slowly rotate on the bar.
On my 1990 VW golf I put a cheap $100(Canadian) rack on, rectangular bar, quiet while driving, made foam pads from 3" minicell. they sit nice on the bars while loading and unloading.
Hope that helps
Greg
