Due to time constraints, I usually only adjust the hip pads (I bring a number of minicell shims) and the footbraces. If the student brings their own kayak I will add hip pads as needed and discuss outfitting options regarding the thigh braces, back support, hip support and foot support. One old rule of thumb for testing outfitting is that you should be able to easily lift the kayak high on edge, while on the ground, with complete control. Also, remember that after outfitting changes, it is wise to have the student test that they can exit the kayak without difficulty.
