I wouldnt say that one roll is better than another. You may find that one type of roll works better for you and your boat. I usually use a sweep roll as it works well for me and I have a boat with a low back deck. Several people I paddle with are religious about the virtues of the C to C roll. One thing to work on in emergency situations is resetting up if you blow the first roll. If I dont get it the first time I will set up on the other side. If that doesnt work I will go for an extended Pawlata roll. It works most of the time. If the water is cold or I am already out of breath the second roll is a Pawlata. Being able to scull can be a huge help as well. Keep practicing!
