One of the neatest things about a Greenland style paddle is the accessibility to the common person - you can carve one out of a standard 2-by-4. Nothing like a paddle that works great and only cost you $5. A workbench, saw, file, block plane and some sand paper and you're ready to go.
Experiment with different lengths and blade widths and loom shapes and lengths (great winter occupation). You can't just go out and buy that many paddles, but you can afford to make that many.
Have fun.

: Hi Kent,
: I was at a not so local kayak shop on the weekend and was surprised to see
: that Nimbus actually makes a wooden Greenland paddle. I did not take note
: of the price but it wouldn't be hard find out.: I think I was mostly surprised that they made wooden paddles as, until now, I
: had only seen their composite paddles.: Ian
