: Hey-
: Im not sure why this comes across as SPAM. IM sorry if it does. IM just a
: paddler looking for some advice from fellow paddlers about the paddling
: website I work for. I want to make sure its the best paddling site out
: there.

It feels like SPAM because it mostly is. While your intentions may be good (and not deliberately SPAM), the website you linked to is someone you work for, which is generally considered poor form unless someone has requested specific information. Second, you're tie in was a question about river kayaking on a "Sea Kayaks techniques" board, which further implies that you're trying to get site hits instead of contributing to the general conversation of the board. Third, while your site does have a lot of kayaking information, it's primarily geared toward whitewater, and much of the information is inaccurate. Even the page you linked to (with a broken link I might add) was supposed to be about kayak paddles but had no less than 8 sponsored links (about kayaks) 6 advertisements (nothing to do with kayaking) and popups (unknown quantities since my browser blocks them) and the articles (more like op-ed pieces, actually) were poorly researched and written.

My suggestion for your free LVM (what is that) videos is to offer them to the people who give you the most/best website improvement suggestions. But that may just be me. With that in mind, here are some suggestions: 1) get rid of the inordinate amount of advertisements and links. If ads are required to keep up and running, at least make sure they are relavent to the topic of "discussion". 2) Organize the site by obviously connected topics--the menu on the left is a start but needs some serious help and reorganization. 3) Call articles and opinion pieces pieces what they are. And make sure the research is accurate. (There are more than two types of paddle materials --all synthetics don't count as one material. And not all paddle blades are feathered.) 4) Make the site easier to read- clean it up, streamline it. Dump all the links on the right side and make the layout easily understood and less stressful on the eyes. More isn't always better.

Now, all that said, I like the concept of the site and believe I could probably filter a lot of good information from all the noise, if I had the time and inclination. Feel free to email me for an address to send those videos to. :)
