: The Icom M1V and M88 have proven to be very rugged and reliable. They're my
: personal choice. Watch for $50 factory rebates on the M88, they happen
: pretty frequently. Barring that, Defender has them on sale for $228. They
: have the M1V for $190 and Icom is giving away a free car charger with
: them. www.defender.com: If the Icoms are out of your price range, consider the Uniden Voyager, but be
: aware that its small, closely spaced buttons are difficult to operate with
: gloves on.: Stay away from the Standard Horizon HX460-S, as they are prone to leaking and
: failure. I had one fail five times and know of MANY others who've
: experienced failures.Hi Brian;
I emailed Radio World in Toronto ON and they recommeded the Uniden Voyager VHF out of what they sell. But you gave me a lot more choices and information.
Thank you very much.
