Was reading all your posts about women loading kayaks and rack systems. I have a small Neon and you'd think it'd be no problem but I put one boat on Yakima Hullraisers and the other on just foamsaddles and it doesn't work the best. Even if I'm only loading one boat, I can't put it on the foam pads as they are loose on the roof rack bars and so don't hold the boat from side to side motion. So I end up using the hullraisers all the time and they are just a pain to load on when you've only one person. The boat has to be loaded up onto its side, doesn't slide on the hullraiser at all (so no sliding techniques help and sliding will actually turn them sideways and then you're in trouble) and that last 6" hoisting is a bugger with a plastic Current Designs Storm. I have tried using a 6" step stool and that helps considerably. I must try the outrigger idea with the broom handle in the roof rack bar. Of course, at these times when you want to load and you try standing out in the street looking helpless all the neighbors are at work or something. Definitely loading is a big issue for women. I would like to try the hull-rollers but have already spent so much on the hullraisers....anyway, just sharing my experiences and frustrations!
