Gloves do not put the padding where it is needed- in the push-pull zone. And then if you wear very heavy gloves - the hands will not go around the shaft. At a race sat some fellow kayakers tried the special padding and they loved the index padding but some people on message boards are quick to reject an idea without having tried it. Nice thing about races in the adirondacks is that we are a brotherhood of racers who share and help each other. And am spending less time on message boards because most are dominated by a few know it alls who reject stuff because they are so sure they know it all. People like that I enjoy beating in races such as blackburn. And yes will be using a shaft that has the special index padding where it is needed most.
