: I guess I will just leave the seat for now. I will get used to it. It just
: seemed funnythat it was higher than it had to be, and much higher than the
: Romany. Of course the Romany has a real low back deck.Valley seems to use the seat height to tune the performance of their boats. The seat in the Anas Acuta is considerably lower than in the Pintail. The seat in the Nordkapp is - or at least was - considerably higher than in the Pintail. In the case of the Pintail, it probably is done to make the wider hull more responsive to leaning. As for the Nordkapp, it results in a boat that's quite responsive when loaded with gear, but twitchy and unpredictable when paddled empty.
One advantage of foam seats is that they're infinitely "adjustable". If it's too high, shave a little off. If it's too low, add another layer of foam. If you don't like the size or shape, change it.
