Mike,
The Garmin eTrex Legend is down to US$170. now. I believe that is the most basic unit that still has maps in it. I am on my third one in five years. I like the functionality of it but not the durablility. Fortunately it was purchased at REI and I get a no hassle exchange. It sees about a thousand miles a year in the kayak, plus some use on road trips, can't complain. The map function is a handy feature for punching in destination waypoints without having to reference and enter coordinates. The speedometer/odometer functions of the basic units are great training tools. Just my input, your choice.Reg
: As christmas is coming up and i have some hints to drop, so: What are some
: good, handheld, kayak related gps's out there now?
: Any features to really look for?
