Snow

Actually, Pamela, we don't get a lot of snow, not like we used to. When I was younger (yes, I was, just can't remember when that was) we got quite a bit more snow and it stayed all winter long. Nowadays we get seemingly less snow and it generally melts to a thin layer. That biting cold front is always one high pressure system away from the Arctic. I sure wish we could get more snow with the cold - that would make the cold more bearable. Right now there is snow but we've had unseasonably warm temperatures for the last two weeks and it has been melting slowly but surely. It was up to about 8 inches on the ground but now it has shrunk to maybe 3-4 inches. The weather pattern keeps switching from almost Arctic to almost semi-tropical (i.e 6 C or ~38 F). We'll probably get that one long nasty cold spell in late January, the one that sinks temperatures down to -40 C (~-8 F) and lasts for a few weeks.
My youngest son wants to move to Newfoundland where a good days snow offers up at least a foot of snow in 24 hrs. Those guys get snow that buries their houses by the end of winter. Now THAT'S snow! Us, we're just cold. Send hot chocolate and Bailey's, you'll make a lotta friends here.
