: I own a Nautiraid Mark II, french made folder. Like the comment "open barge", this boat is very tough and stable. It is not, repeat, not a compsite toy, rather a very practical and flexible item. It has a beam of 35 inches with length of 16.5 feet, comes with air sponsons bilaterally and optional buoyancy tubes for the fore and aft wedges. It can be rigged for solo or double with appropriate sprayskirts, or run open cockpit which is nice on those calm sunny days. I also have a BSG sail rig, which is a real sail, 15foot unstayed mast, with outriggers and rudder board for tacking upwind. The boat is very stable with the outriggers on, you can stand up in it! It is still a kayak though, and can do all ( pretty much ) that the others, except eskimo roll..I think that term should be renamed as the Inuit roll. My last trip was a short three day excursion in the Canadian Gulf Islands, last week. Very quiet out there, and a bit stormy on day two with southeast winds and good wave action. I sailed when I could, and muscled the rest.
This boat is a good boat for the money. Easy to assemble with wooden frame under Hypalon skin hull and nylon deck. Famous air seats are adjustable, rudder controls are free for any position you care to choose.
Cheers.
Thank you all for your help, everyone is so nice here.
