: ...and I meant, that to avoid people THAT rude, a surface vessel would not
: afford adequate means of escape. A submarine (literally) would be
: required. Sorry, just lame humour, I don't do WW. Hope you enjoy your
: paddling AND painting, whatever you end up with. For those looking for solitude these days it definitely should be something beyond the reach of upper middle class - either submarine or floating plane :-). Here, in BC, Canada, even though considered a wilderness compared to some other places, it is hard to find a cove or a beach within reasonable weekend range, where you'll be alone, even if it's not accessible by road. Unfortunately, power boats have longer range than kayaks, and there is always some marina every 50-70 miles. If any spot is accessible from water, there will be either "Provincial Park" with other kayakers and/or power boats - March through October, - or vacation homes. Even if it's not accessible from water, but just protected from wind, there will often be either vacation homes or yachts anchored nearby. And when yachts are anchored nearby and shores are barely accessible for a kayaker, but allow hopping out on rocks from inflatable dinghy, they will do that, together with children and dogs :-). If the spot is accessible and there are yachts and/or cruisers anchored nearby, there will always be some sunset watchers or low-tide group walking around back and forth. Sometimes I can't understand why people bother with buying a power boat or a small yacht, when they have to use same coves and often set a tent at the same spot were humble kayakers can :-)
