: It's probably too late for you to do this, but I put a piece of dowel between
: the gunwales at both ends of the boat and run lines around them and back
: to the cockpit where the ends are tied together, forming large loops (a
: trick Bill Low showed me). The lines are use to pull float bags into and
: out of the bow and stern (the bags are clipped to the lines at the front
: and rear, so they can be pulled both ways). This same pulley system can be
: used to pull gear bags into the boat, though storage is still somewhat
: limited due to the low volume of the boat.

Thanks. I find that loading the float bag in the stern is doable by hand. The bow is a huge pain. I'm thinking of buying one of those "grabber" tools they sell at Home Depot to pick fruits. The pulley system is going to have to wait until I reskin my boat. Maybe I should scrape into some barnacles on purpose ;-)
